Our Story

Dave and Kate with park and tulips in background

Dave and Kate Otto started Soft Center Home Baking in early 2023 in San Francisco, inspired by Kate’s memories of Filipino bread and snacks. They began with a classic Filipino staple, pandesal, and soon added Spanish bread, pandecoco, ube pandesal, and ensaymada, sharing these flavors with their Bay Area community.

In August 2023, they moved to the Quad Cities and are now based in Rock Island, IL, where they continue to bake and share Filipino-inspired treats. Customers often say their favorites are the ube (purple yam) items — soft ube pandesal, chewy ube crinkles, and fluffy, moist ube cakes.

They are always working to expand and improve their offerings, adding new flavors and menu items inspired by customer feedback — creating moments of joy with every treat.
